Date set for Rafah ground invasion, Netanyahu says
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set a date has been set for a ground invasion.
In a video statement on Monday, Mr Netanyahu said the Rafah operation is essential for victory.
"It will happen. There is a date," he said, without elaborating.
Israel's top ally, the US, has said invading Rafah would be a mistake and has demanded to see a credible plan to protect civilians.
More than one million displaced Palestinians have sought refuge from the war in Rafah.
Israel is purchasing 40,000 tents to prepare for the evacuation of Rafah, an Israeli official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media.
